It’s their river. They were here first. But they’re more than willing to give you some room to check it out…and them, too. There are beavers and otters, bucks and bears, foxes and turkey vultures. There are frogs as big as crocodiles (ok, not really, but they’re big.) They live in flood plain forests and backwater marshes and keep an eye on whoever is keeping an eye on them. You’ll see them if you’re quick and for sure they’ll see you. The airborne wild life is every bit as fascinating with soaring bald eagles and rough-legged hawks, sand pipers and cormorants, kingfishers and hairy woodpeckers. Mississippi River wild life – great to see and be seen.
